"How I choose what hole to paint."
"There are several characteristics that I look for in deciding what hole to paint on a golf course. First of all I look for what is the most dominant characteristic of the course that distinguishes it from the other courses. Then I look for the hole where this characteristic is most prevalent. In other words, what hole says "Giant's Ridge", or "The Pines", for instance. This should be one of the most visually memorable and challenging holes on the course. Then I look for the most interesting angle that captures all of these elements and can be portrayed beautifully on canvas. I add interesting lighting and embellish the colors until finally I end up with the master painting." Leo Stans
